PERPETUAL ADORATION

Walking with the Lord, being together in His presence and kneeling before Him, we prostrate before the one who stooped down and gave His life for us.   Won’t you spend ONE HOUR before the Lord in adoration?  Open Hours:  Sunday Noon-1:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.  If you are interested in a permanent hour, we would like to double-up on adorers so we can eliminate the need for substitutes. LEGION OF MARY

Legion of Mary – Curia Picnic will be held at St. Leo’s Pavilion on Sunday, June 28, at 2:00 p.m.  All active and auxiliary members are invited.  Calls are being made to determine attendance.

 

CORPUS CHRISTI

The Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ will be celebrated this weekend, June 13 & 14, and our annual outdoor procession (weather permitting) will be held on Sunday, June 14, at the end of our 10:30 a.m. Mass.  Children who just received their First Holy Communion as well as altar servers and Extraordinary Minister are invited to participate.

 

NEW ALTAR SERVING TRAINING

Students from 3rd through 12th grade are invited to become altar servers and training sessions are available for either evening or daytime.  Evening sessions will be held on Tuesdays: June 30, July 7, 14 & 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and daytime sessions on Tuesdays: July 7, 14 & 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.  All training will take place in the church.  Sign up sheets can be found posted outside the Reconciliation Rooms. For more information or to sign up please call John Bisking 299-2133 or Joe Weaver 285-9097.  Prior registration is requested.  We hope many of our families can take advantage of the less hectic summer schedules to be trained.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Amazing Bible adventures, cool crafts, great games, awesome music and snacks you can sink your teeth into!  Grab your friends so everyone can rock this dock!  St. Joseph’s Vacation Bible School will be held July 6-9, from 6 -7:30 p.m.  Please contact Nick Paulukow at 871-9966 for registration.  You will also find sign-ups at the back of the church.

 

CONGRATULATIONS

Two of our students were honored last Sunday with medals from the Lancaster Serra Club after eight years of continuous service as altar servers.  Those receiving medals were Jennifer and Allison Steinruck.  Clint Banzhof will be honored at the 10:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday for serving our parish as an altar server for 9 years of continuous service.  Thank you, congratulations and God Bless each of you!

Buy your ride coupons early and save.  If you wait till the night of the carnival they will cost you $20 each.  Go to one of our sponsor locations and purchase a ride coupon for ˝ price and redeem it Monday, June 22 thru Wednesday, June 24, at the ticket booth on the carnival grounds.  Ride coupons are good for one night of rides per coupon.  All purchases MUST be made before Monday, June 22, ’09 at one of the following locations:  The Abbey Book & Gift Shop, 902 Manor St., Lancaster; Bauer’s Beverage Co., 136, S. PIG ROAST

Pig Roast, sponsored by the Activities Committee on Sunday, July 12, at Noon at St. Joseph’s Ball Fields on Wabank Road.  Bring your gloves and bats.  Last Names beginning with A-O please bring a salad or side.  Last names beginning with P-Z please bring a desert.  Beverages will be provided.  Tickets are $1 and can be purchased after Masses the weekend of June 27-28 and July 4-5.  We will be dedicating the brand new Leroy Stipe/Presh Weber Pavilion.  We will be taking free will offering to support the efforts of the Parish Activities Committee who sponsor the “dollar day activities”.

SCRIPTURE STUDY CLASS

We hear a lot about the Book of Revelation but how much do we understand as Catholics about this last book of the bible and the second coming of Christ?  Father Hilbert will be using the Little Rock Scripture Study on the Book of Revelation for an eight week study on Wednesdays, October 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2009 and February 24, March 3, 10, and 17, 2010.  The bible study classes will be held in the St. Francis room at 7:00 p.m. and you can register by adding your name to one of the sign-up sheets posted outside the Reconciliation rooms or by calling the rectory. This is a bible study you will not want to miss!

 

IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES:

  160th Anniversary of our parish will be celebrated with a special Mass in German on Sunday, October 18, at 2:00 p.m.  More information will follow in upcoming bulletins.

  The Confirmation date for the upcoming 8th grade students (2009-2010) is Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.  In celebration of our Diocesan Marian Year, Confirmation will be held at St. Mary’s Church.

  Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington. DC will be held on Saturday, October 24.  The pilgrimage will begin the Diocesan Marian Year, October 2009 – October 2010 additional information, go to www.hbgdiocese.org.

 

CARNIVAL – WOMEN’S CLUB:  Once again the Women’s Club will have their “delicious” Bake Sale Booth next to the Bingo Tent at the June Carnival.  We ask that you PLEASE be as generous as you have been in the past.  You will be contacted to bring your “specialties” that everyone will be looking for on the requested designated date or you can contact Jeanne Kauffman at 464-4456.

RCIA – ADULTS and CHILDREN

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, commonly known as RCIA is the normal way in which adults become full, active and participating members of the Catholic Church.  It is a process of prayer, reflection, learning and conversion for those who have not been baptized or who have been baptized in another faith tradition.  If you or someone you know would like more information or wishes to become Catholic, please pick up one of the pamphlets located in the Church vestibule or call Pat at the parish office.  There is no obligation to join.

The RCIA for Children is a process for children who, for a variety of reasons, have not been baptized as infants or who have not been prepared for reception of the sacrament at the usual time (First Eucharist and Penance, grade 2 and Confirmation, grade 8).  Sessions begin the end of August on Mondays from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Religious Education Building.  Please contact Joan or Pat at the parish office for more information or to register.

 

L.C.H.S. CARNIVAL

The 29th Annual Lancaster Catholic High School Carnival begins Monday, June 15 through Saturday, June 20.  6 big nights of fun, food and Entertainment for the entire family.  6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. nightly.  For more information go to: www.lchsyes.org.

 

LANCASTER CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

Speed Development & Explosion Camp for all types of athletes 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 22 and Tuesday, June 23.  Cost of the camp is $90 which includes t-shirt, drinks, snacks and a complete athletic manual.  All athletes from the age of 7-18 can participate.
